Bill Morris was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the son of a career Army officer, and a self-described North Dakota farm girl. Bill and his four younger sisters grew up all over the world, all eventually graduating from high school in Annandale, Virginia, a Washington suburb, and earning bachelors and higher degrees at various colleges and universities.
Bill did his undergraduate work at Bethany College, West Virginia, and the University of London, majoring in English Literature. He earned his law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law, Valparaiso, Indiana, where he currently serves on the alumni association board.
He has until recently devoted his career to trial advocacy; since 1999, however, Bill has increasingly served Nebraska administrative agencies and private parties as a hearing officer and arbitrator. He is a Nebraska Supreme Court disciplinary referee, presiding over cases of lawyer misconduct. In 2006, he was appointed an administrative law judge for the Nebraska Health and Human Services System, Department of Regulation and Licensure, and hears cases involving health care provider sanctions. He is a member of the National Arbitration Forum and is an arbitrator for the National Association of Health Lawyers.
This metamorphosis notwithstanding, Bill continues to represent private and business clients in state and federal courts and administrative agencies. His primary areas of interest are employment, bodily injury claims, debtor/creditor relations, health care and administrative law. He has litigated cases in Canada, North Carolina, Texas, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Florida. He is a former adjunct professor of trial advocacy at the University of Nebraska Law College.
Bill is licensed in Nebraska, Colorado and Missouri, the Unites States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Federal Claims.
He has been married for over 20 years to Cindy Morris, Vice President for Administration, Nebraska Book Company, Inc. She grew up on a Nebraska farm, graduated with distinction from the University of Nebraska School of Business Administration and is a CPA. They have two children, Whitney, a student at University of Kansas, and Elliot, who attends Lincoln Southeast High School. They are members of Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln. When not busy with children’s educations, recreation and other family activities, Bill likes to organize and go on canoe expeditions, play a little golf and ride BMW motorcycles.
