Jim practices in the areas of business law (including entity formation, contracts and general counsel services), estate planning (including wills, trusts, trustee services, elder law, tax planning and probate), health care (representing physicians, hospitals, nursing and assisted living facilities), real estate and arbitration.
Jim represents numerous businesses from small local enterprises to businesses with large international sales, non profit organizations and health care providers.  He particularly enjoys working with individuals planning businesses or personal legal affairs.

Jim was admitted to practice in 1979 before all Nebraska state courts and the federal district court for Nebraska, and since has also been admitted to the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 8th and 9th Circuits.  Jim serves as an arbitrator on the panels of the National Arbitration Forum and the American Health Lawyer’s Association and as a hearing officer for several state agencies. 

Jim is a Lincoln, Nebraska native who attended the University of Nebraska Business College and Law College on Regents’ scholarships, majoring in accounting as an undergraduate.  He passed the CPA exam, then immediately entered law school.  The accounting and business backgrounds have been valuable in Jim’s counsel to business clients.  Jim currently serves on the Nebraska State Board of Public Accountancy. 

Jim is married to Jeanette, a former missionary in Mali, and is the father of three children.  He is active in Indian Hills Community Church, teaching home bible studies and 4th grade children’s church.  He is on the board of the Back to the Bible Foundation.  He enjoys camping, hiking, golf, a good book and especially any activity with his family.
